About
The hands behind the work.
Morris Basir Designs is led by Mo - a joiner who came to the bench the long way round, by way of building sites and world-class event productions. Serving London & the South East.
Meet Mo
A craftsman, first and foremost.
My journey into this trade didn't start on a bench - it started in 2009 as a window fitter.
From there, I spent five years in the Middle East managing large-scale event sites and productions, from Formula 1 to the National Day exhibitions. I was running full teams of riggers, lighting technicians, carpenters and event crews, coordinating complex builds under serious pressure and even tighter deadlines.
Coming back to the UK, Covid gave me the time and space to properly fall in love with carpentry - and joinery followed soon after. That background in high-pressure builds and team management shaped how I work today: meticulous, organised, and obsessed with getting the details right the first time.
The journey
The route to the workshop.
Sixteen years of sites, teams and deadlines sit behind every piece that leaves the bench.

Where it started
Not on a bench, but on site as a window fitter - learning how buildings actually go together.

Carpentry, then joinery

Morris Basir Designs
Wardrobes, staircases, kitchens, doors and full renovations, built with the precision I learned managing world-class events.
In my own words
The parts of the job I love most.
The consultation
One of my favourite parts of the job is sitting down with customers, understanding their space, and working through ideas and solutions together. I love that collaboration just as much as the making itself. Every bespoke piece is a new problem to solve, and no two are ever quite the same - that's exactly how I like it.
The timber
I also love working with a vast range of wood materials. Each species brings its own character, grain and challenges, and I enjoy bringing different types of timber into my joinery to create something with real depth and individuality.
How it works
From first idea to final fitting.
01
Consultation
We talk through your ideas, take a proper look at the space, and offer honest advice on what will work best.
02
Design & Quote
You receive a clear design direction and a transparent quote - no jargon, no surprises later.
03
In the Workshop
Your piece is made by hand from carefully selected timber, with the joints and finish done properly.
04
Fitted on Site
We install with care, tidy up after ourselves, and don't leave until you're genuinely happy.
If you're after craftsmanship, ideas, and someone who genuinely cares about getting it right - that's what you'll get here.
